Stop Undervaluing Your Time and Yourself
One of the best ways to increase your worth as a marketer or businessperson is by raising your rates. Often we undervalue our time and ourselves. This is a mistake.
We are worth more than what we are charging for our services or products because there is no set price on the value of your time. The same goes for how you view yourself in this world, you have worth and should not let anyone make you feel undervalue otherwise. What’s more, if I can’t help but think that everyone has their own personal idea about what they’re worth too, so stop undervaluing your time and yourself by pricing it low when you know it deserves to be higher!
Your self-worth is tied to your income. Your low level of income can be an indication that you don’t value yourself and have a negative perspective on how clients view your services and abilities. Even if you try hard to attract clients, you may subconsciously be pushing them away without realizing it.
As a business coach, I deserve to be valued. I’ve seen people undervalue themselves and struggle with cash flow problems because of it. Although nobody cares how much your time is worth in the short run, they eventually catch on.
So even when you are doing everything right to attract clients by networking or via referrals you may not be able to sustain your current situation. You need to stop undervaluing your time and yourself. You must get clear on what you want, why you deserve it, and how much of a difference it will make in your life.
The most expensive thing that you can get people to pay for is your personal time. So don’t give away your time for free. Always have some sort of upsell; a service that you can offer that differentiates you from others.
Small-business owners, freelancers, and consultants are always concerned about the cost of their time, and rightly so. What if potential clients complain because they’re overpriced or walk away from a deal? But you can’t swing to the other side with prices too low where your services will ultimately be taken for granted.
The key is to find the right pricing for your skill set. Get clear on what you want, why you deserve it, and how much of a difference it will make in your life. The most expensive thing that people can pay for is personal time; so don’t give away your personal time for free.
Always have some sort of upsell: add-on service or product that differentiates you from others. Learning how to value yourself and stop undervaluing your time will benefit more than just you, it will also make an impact in the lives of the people around you. Charging a fair price in exchange for products or services is what allows you to create ling-term success and generate consistent income.
In summary, stop undervaluing your time and yourself. Get clear on what you want so you can create long-term success by charging a fair price for products or services in exchange for what you are worth that will make an impact in the lives of those around you. Be true to what is most important to you without worrying about how others perceive it because then you won’t have regret for all of your life living as someone who never valued themselves enough to ask for more than they deserved.
